Our first day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Grandma with the grandkids!
So lucky! This August we have had not just one wonderful vacation, but two. After Killarney Lodge, we came home for a few days and then left for Florida. My mother, husband, kids and niece and nephew spent time at the Universal theme parks and Seaworld. Trip two had the purpose of a ‘wow ‘ activity for each grandchild. Heck of a Christmas present huh? So lucky!
My son, being a little Potter crazy, wanted to go to Islands of Adventure to visit Harry Potter world. It was a great experience. A unique ride ‘The Forbidden Journey’, a magical setting, a chance to have a wand choose Oliver in Ollivander’s Wand Shop and of course BUTTERBEER!

Butterbeer is a root beer/cream soda tasting soda with a caramel cream topping. Sounds not too appetizing, but is surprisingly good. I don’t like either of the aforementioned sodas, but liked the Butterbeer. Oliver of course LOVED it!

If you plan to visit either of the Universal Parks, we all highly recommend staying on-site. This affords you the opportunity to ‘express-pass’ almost all of the major attractions, get into the parks an hour early, and you can easily take a break in the day and go back to the hotel. Hard Rock is an easy 5 minute walk to Universal Studios, with Islands of Adventure being a few minutes walk further!
